About Scott L. Crump

My name is Scott L. Crump.  I am an Administrative Specialist III of Higher Education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  I want to discuss briefly my biographical information, my educational objectives and finally my career objectives.

Biographical information:
I was born in 1974 and raised in Arkansas among a lower to middle class family.  I had the good fortune of knowing my extended family that lived in the area and I would even spend summers with my Grandmother Crump and play with my cousins who lived on an agricultural farm.   I was able to meet my Great Grandfather who had a livestock farm with pigs, chickens and turkeys.  I was very fortunate to have the opportunities to know both sides of my family growing up, many of whom or their descendants still live in the state.

Educational Objectives:
I work full time and go to school part time.  As a result it is taking me longer to finish my educational goals than I would really like to.  I look forward to completing my Information Technology Minor, to be followed by completing my bachelors degree in Management Information Systems from the UALR College of Business.  At the pace I am going I will graduate with my bachelor’s degree in Spring 2018.   I plan to continue my education by pursuing a masters degree in public administration there after.  I would eventually like to get a Doctorate in something like Geology, Psychology or another field that I have yet to take an interest in.  When the opportunity avails itself for me to begin my Doctoral coursework, I’m sure I’ll know more what I want to pursue by then.

Career Objectives:
I currently hold the position of an Administrative Specialist III.  I have learned quite a bit about how to run the day to day operations of an office in my eight years experience as a State of Arkansas employee.  My educational goals and my career objectives meld well with each other.  Once I graduate with a bachelors degree in Management Information Systems I would like to apply for a position as a Computer Support Specialist either within the UA System or one of the many Arkansas State agencies in the public sector.  Once I obtain a masters degree in Public Administration I would then begin pursuing work as either an Office Supervisor or Middle Management within the UA System or State Government.   If my mind is still sharp enough and I have the strength to do so, I would like to obtain a Doctorate in something relevant to my work in state government after which I would then apply for a Directorship position somewhere in the public sector.  I plan to retire from state government when I turn sixty-five or seventy-five depending on how well my health holds out.

In Conclusion, I have lived and worked in many roles in my life and look forward to learning much more in the years to come.
